Today

Today is a beautiful golden day in the Village. It finally looks and feels like fall. We had terrible rain all day yesterday and high winds so there are leaves every where.

Today this is my view from the studio which is on the front of the house. We live on Maple Street. Can you tell? Would it be rude if I asked people not to park on the street during peak Autumn season so their cars won't interfere with my view? Except Mini Coopers and scooters. Those can park anywhere.

Today I'm being quiet as a mouse because my Sweet Hubby is working from home. I never realize how much I talk to the animals when I'm alone during the week until he works from home. I'm keeping busy pottering around the house and making croutons from a leftover sour dough baguette to go with the Potato Leek Soup that I'm making for dinner. Maybe I should share that recipe next week. I just got done making these pumpkins seeds. Amazing! I'm now considering buying more pumpkins just so I can harvest the seeds.

Today I'm excited to say goodbye to Halloween. Our trick or treating got postponed until tonight because of major storms so all of the decorations are coming down first thing in the morning.

Today I'm looking forward to a weekend filled with dinner with friends, knitting, movies and a project I've been meaning to get to. Happy November!

  1. I love the beautiful leaves out our window too. So vibrant on these dark and cloudy days. We had trick or treating thru all of the rain last night. Surprisingly we had about 260 kids.....we usually have many more. So glad my girls are past that stage. Now they dress up to pass out the candy. Your soup sounds wonderful!

  2. Your color is so beautiful! We got the rain all day yesterday and the winds this morning. i was afraid when I woke up that the trees would all be bare, but many of the leaves are still intact, so a little more time to enjoy the beauty:>) Your weekend sounds perfect!

  5. Your view is wonderful and you have every right to ask for Mini Coopers and scooters (preferably Vespas) only :) Have a lovely weekend!

  6. So pretty, JJ! Your street is dreamy.
I didn't even get my Halloween decorations out this year. Just went with a general Autumn feel on the porches. I'm forcing myself to keep things fall-ish around here until Thanksgiving even though my thoughts are already turning to Christmas.
Enjoy your weekend. It sounds perfect!

  7. Gorgeous slice of November in the Village. We are back up in the 80's here in Southern Cal. Enjoy your evening. I will be doing the same as you tomorrow. I just have to fight the urge to skip right to Christmas décor.

Our fall color peaked right on Halloween this year -- absolutely beautiful! I'm always the lady that is standing on the sidewalk, just looking around at the foliage.

  15. What great color! Most of our leaves are now down, but I sure enjoyed them while they were here. I packed up my Halloween and spent today decorating for Thanksgiving. I am surrounded by vintage turkeys and soft sculpture pumpkins. :) I love November days. Have a great week! Kit

  18. Beautiful fall color on your street. Just lovely. I hear you about the cars, too! We have neighbors with teenagers and there's always a billion cars all over the street. I don't really mind -- they're good kids and a good family and I enjoy them. But sometimes I wish I could see the trees and the view and not all the teenmobiles! :-) ~Angela~
