A Spring in My Step

Spring. Oh how I dream of that mythical being. Saturday we had a small, beautiful glimpse of it. I soaked up every gorgeous moment.

Later that very same day the local weatherman said that March is going to be colder than normal. And the wind gushed right out of my sails. I've been in a bit of a funk lately. Mostly weather related, add in a little bit of back trouble, a mouth ulcer and a my-baby-is-turning-13-next-week for good measure, and things got ugly there for a couple of days.

To combat the ugliness I've been doing things like making cream puffs from scratch. I've been washing linens, cleaning and rearranging.

I bought a new mirror (or 2. okay 6. don't ask.) and moved some things around making me feel like my rooms were fresh and new.

I organized my unmentionables drawer. Somehow that made me feel better. I gathered things to donate. I threw some things away. I edited what was sitting around because I appreciate what I have more when there is less to see.

I put my winter coat where I can't see it so I can pretend I don't need it.

I went to the first yoga class I've been to in months. Now my home and attitude are feeling much more fresh and before I know it, everywhere I look I will be surrounded by this kind of beauty. Just the thought of it is enough to put a spring in my step.

  9. I am dreaming right along with you. The best cure for unrequited longing for Spring is to get everything done in the house that you can so that when the skies turn blue and sunny and the flowers start to bloom you can go outside and play! It does help to spiff up the house and focus inside. I'm right there with you Jen, I heard that March was going to be cold and snowy and my heart kind of sank. However, the fact is that March 1 marks the end of meteorological winter, so whatever March may bring, spring IS on the way.

  10. We are getting a spring tickle where I live too! 63 degrees yesterday and the motorcycles are out and about. I even turned the heat off in the house. Rain and colder tomorrow, but enjoying the nice weather while it is here. I LOVE the new mirror by your front door! I thought it was an "inspiration" photo from a magazine at first before realizing it is your entry.

  12. Oh how I need your energy right now! My home is beginning to feel claustrophobic. I have really good intentions to snap to it and get things straightened back up, but then, like today the sun comes out and I want to go.....somewhere, anywhere and be out and enjoy it. But, I really don't need to be doing that! Help! Oh, we really do need a bit of Spring! Thank you for wishing my Mallory a happy birthday yesterday by the way!

  14. Beautiful spring blossoms, I can hardly wait for spring either, getting little glimpses here and there :) I've also been organizing and simplifying, it always makes me feel refreshed. Cream puffs probably don't hurt either ;)

  19. Every photo in this post is like a breath of fresh air! Your new mirror looks lovely next to your pretty aqua door. And your newel post is gorgeous! And I'll have a creampuff to go with my tea, please. :)

I've had it with winter, and I'm taking full advantage of being stuck indoors to finish everything up so I can spend the spring season playing outdoors. I can't wait!
