Turning the Page

It's a little crazy how excited I get to turn the calendar page and start a new month. Some months give me a bigger thrill than others. March is one of those because we begin easing into spring (I'm just hoping Mother Nature will get the word soon) and also because my little one celebrates her birthday this month. This month also held my Momma's birthday as well as the anniversary of the day my Sweet Hubby did not propose to me. You know the day as St. Patrick's Day. I know it as Here's a Ring, I'm Just Gonna Fall Asleep Now Day. It's a lot to fit on a greeting card.

It seems every day finds me shuffling things around this nest, trying to trick myself into believing there isn't snow on the ground. I've been steadily adding to my milkglass collection. There is a pattern of behavior that may or may not indicate addiction. It goes something like: Oh pretty! I have to have it! I don't need it! I'm going to buy it anyway! I shouldn't have bought that! That is absolutely the last piece I'm buying! Look how pretty it looks in the house! I'm so happy I bought it! Yep. Not even kidding. But I'm sure I can quit anytime!

There is a lot of birthday prep going on around here. Also, some long overdue decorating is happening in my bedroom and some freshening up of my about to be teenager's bedroom. But mostly there is a lot of finger twiddling and impatient foot tapping and wish making for spring. Come on already March! Show us what you can do!

  1. Hi! You are not alone in over-excitement-turning-calendar-syndrome . . . I too 'suffer' from this. In fact I kinda cheat and turn it over late the night before while trying to not look to closely at the next page so it will be a 'surprise' to wake up to the next morning. Yep- weirdo! But I'm with you on March- love this month with Spring around the corner. And my baby has a birthday this month too! But he's turning twelve and we are spared one last year before the big 1-3.
Oh! LOVE your milk glass collection. I see it as curating old, beautiful things for future generations- right?

  3. After 5 days of rain, I have a better understanding of what all of you in the "weather" states have been suffering. I used the 5 days to be totally productive. But today, the sun is shining, the windows are thrown open, the birds are singing in the garden, and I am being LAZY.

  5. I'm afraid I've turned the corner in my life where I can't believe another month has flown by! I am getting anxious for some warm weather and sunshine, though. It's hard to pass up new additions to a collection you love. If you hadn't bought those pieces, you'd be wishing you did! Enjoy all your special days this month!

  7. I've been so ready for Spring for awhile now. Living north of you in Michigan, we are having more snow today....yesterday was gorgeous though with lots of sunshine. So of course I had to get out and enjoy it! I've seen alot of milk glass out there lately in thrift shops and Goodwill. I've even picked up a couple of pieces myself. Not that I need anymore dishware, but something about the daintiness of it just makes you pick it up and walk right over and buy it, odd how that happens. Yes, Spring hurry up so I can open windows and enjoy your beauty!

  10. I do enjoy changing the calendar each month but I also become a bit sad at how fast times goes by. I love your calendar!
I have the same milk glass vase in my bedroom...
Have a wonderful day celebrating your daughter today!

  11. I hear you Jen. I actualaly turned the calender over to March a day early, i was soooo over February. I just heard the temps are going to hit 40 Friday and I almost wept with relief. As for the milk glass addiction? My collection currently holds my primrose (on sale for 79 cents art Home Depot!) And all the little pots of anything green and living that i have needed to buy in the last 2 weeks. I feel that justifies it's existence quite nicely. It even convinces me I might need a little more:>)
