Serenity Now

This day has felt full of promise from first blush. I woke up today feeling lighter in my soul. I'm feeling completely recovered from a back injury from last week. I'm also feeling a lightness in my heart after having a hard, but much needed conversation with someone I love last night. The weather has been beautifully cool today. This day is whispering autumn and I'm all too happy to listen.

The windows are open. I've had music or Gilmore Girls playing all day. I just learned that I can play Pandora radio through my DVD player. Gah! Technology! Fall candles are burning, summer scents are packed away. The house is clean. I'm slowly moving bits around the house and making it feel a little fresher and cozier in eager anticipation of what is to come.

After a years long search for baskets or containers to hide my DVD collection in our glass fronted entertainment center, I finally had the idea to paper the inside of the doors instead. I found this Rifle Paper Co. wrapping paper and I'm so in love. The list of things that stress me out is not that long but clutter is at the top for sure! I can tell you staring at this mess any time I was sitting down to relax did nothing for my inner peace.

Now I can barely stand to look at that photo and it hasn't even been 24 hours since I finished this project!

Instead of spending $150 on baskets I spent $8.50 on a roll of paper and still have a sheet leftover! I just used Washi tape to attach it to the back so even when I'm looking inside the door it makes me happy. Peace and serenity are restored!

I've got so much going on around here that I want to share, including several half finished projects. I'll be back soon but for now I'm going to go make the most of what's left of this amazing day!

  12. Oh Gilmore Girls ❤️ My daughter and I watched each episode faithfully. In fact our little village could have been used as the set for the show. She moved away to NYC, then England now back to NYC. We both still love Gilmore Girls and think of each other while we watch it again. Talk about bitter sweet. I get choked up just talking about it. I love Rifle Co.! In fact that same daughter works in operations for the co. that handles operations for them. It's a young couple out of Fl. Talk about small world. I love your clever simple fix! As always just right.

  14. That was a genius idea. I have passed on media cabinets if they have glass doors, because I hate the clutter. I love GG's - I often put on the DVD's for background 'music'. I wish I lived in Stars Hollow in the fall!

  15. I have been loving the last couple days of cooler weather. The windows are open and the ceiling fans are moving around the last few breezes of summer. I love your paper lining idea. You've got me thinking about a couple of cabinets I have. Thank you for sharing!

  17. Doesn't it feel good to feel GOOD? I hear ya on the back injury. I pulled a muscle in my back on Wed. and was in terrible pain. Good thing my next-door neighbor is a massage therapist. He was able to work on my back Wed. night and I already feel so much better. I couldn't tell you much about technology when it has to do with things like TVs or DVD players, etc. I know how to watch Netflix in the guest room and that's about it. We have a DVR because it came with our cable package, but we've never even used it, lol! We're not much of TV watchers, so there's never been anything we wanted to record. I got rid of most of my DVDs last year as I found any movie we wanted to watch is now either available through Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime or On Demand. I only saved a few of my favorite DVDs. Well, as much as I love summer, I have to say I'm enjoying the cooler temps, too. Have a great weekend!

  18. I've used rice paper on the back of my glass kitchen cabinets. Since I can't stand to see the things behind the glass. It's not cluttered just vitamins, spices etc. it's much more calming to hav wthe rice paper. I do need to update them since its been a number of years since I put it up. Is washi tape available at micheals ? Or Joanne's?

  19. I absolutely love the color of your door.

I didn't have space for all of our DVD's so I bought some huge book typeCD holders and they are store alphabetically in the books. I wanted to watch a DVD while I read blogs tonight so I just went to my book of chick flicks and easily found the DVD's. They take up so little space now.
