Christmas at Our Cottage

The big day is almost here. It feels surreal. It doesn't help that it's 48º outside.

I think I've been in denial about how quickly it was coming up which caused me to end up with a little too much to do at the end. I have to hope one of these years I will learn my lesson.

But probably not. And since I'm quickly running out of time I thought I'd pop in really quickly to share some pictures of our Christmas decorations this year.

Mostly that's because from year to year I can't seem to remember what I put where and I like to refer back to my blog as I decorate!

So here I sit blogging while I curl my hair because there isn't much time left. My big girl will be here in a few minutes.

There are cookies to cut out and bake. Candlelight services to attend.

A visit from the jammie fairy.

Appetizers at our friend's house. In our pajamas, of course.

Waiting for Santa to come through the Village on his fire engine.

Driving through town to see the houses all decorated.

Watching a Christmas movie...Home Alone.

Opening a single gift.

The reading of The Night Before Christmas by daddy while everyone is piled on their beds.

Threats about not getting up too early which of course will be ignored.

The filling of stockings.

The delivery of Santa's gifts.

The little twinge of sadness that the season will soon be over.

The pure exhaustion from a day well lived.

The excitement and anticipation of what is to come.

The resigning ourselves to the fact that the girls will probably be jumping on us to wake us up by 5am.

The laying our heads down and sending up a little prayer of gratitude for the whole big lovely mess that is our Christmas celebration.

From our family to yours...Merriest Christmas my friends.
