Like many of you, I do not have an unlimited budget for decorating. This is not always a bad thing as it forces me to think more creatively. Don't get me wrong, it would be great to be abble to afford all of my ideas. As it is, I'm always looking for creative ways to work with what I have and to find less expensive solutions to my decorating dilemnas.
I've wanted to get a demilune table for awhile to use in my foyer for holding keys and outgoing mail & recently it occured to me to just hang a shelf here instead. One trip to Lowe's and $11.97 later I have this great spot that doesn't take up any floorspace and actually lends some architectural interest to this area.
Great idea, Jen!

I need to show this to my husband -- I'm been saying we need something like this near our front door, where there really isn't room for a table. I was thinking of putting a half-table with legs mounted to the wall, but I like this with the basket underneath much better. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteCute shelf and such a clever way to save space and money!
ReplyDeleteIsn't great when you come up with a fabulous solution that's not expensive! It looks great and I love that it doesn't take up any floor space.

Happy May Day!!
ReplyDeleteLove your new shelf. A great idea.

That's a great idea - I've been looking out for a demi-lune table too, but have only found hugely expensive versions.
ReplyDeleteYours is a great solution. Thanks for the inspiration.
The shelf is perfect!
ReplyDeleteI'm going out tomorrow to look for 3 or 4 white shelves for my tiny sewing room. I'm running out of room and need to start utilizing the vertical wall space.
Kimberly :)
I love that idea! It does what you wanted, was inexpensive, and looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteGreat job...it looks fabulous. I love the basket underneath, too!

That's a wonderful idea! Now MY only problem is, I don't have an entryway! oh well...
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
ReplyDeleteGood idea! I think I could do that in my entry way.
ReplyDeleteI just love the basket being used as an umbrella stand! A very charming entryway.

I loved the colour on the wall!
ReplyDeleteI just love your site, i linked you. I hope that you don`t mind ?

Great idea! It looks fabulous and is so functional! :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I have always been envious of people with room in their entry's for big peices of furniture... this is the best of both worlds. :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I tagged you on my blog today.
jen, in my photo of "my little corner" on my blog I have a small little cabinet that I actually got at target for $49 or something. We used the top for quick stuff and then the cabinet under holds things like mp3 players, club cards, gameboy stuff.......things we need last min heading out the door.
ReplyDeleteThat is a brilliant idea, and quite attractive, too!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the budget issue...I find that the less I've spent on something, the more I end up loving it. Maybe it's the challenge that's half the fun... :)
Great idea!!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your super sweet comments. For those of you who were wondering, the wall color is Benjamin Moore Bronzed Beige.
ReplyDeleteOh I love your black iron warderobe shelf! It's beautiful!
ReplyDeletevery cool jen! cherry

Jen, love the shelf. I think it looks great in your entry, and you were very creative to find the look you wanted and such a small price! I noticed that I have a similar basket as you in my entry, and mine also holds umbrellas (old ones), and it has old tennis rackets, and baseballs as well. Love the look of your entry - I think ours are kind of similar with a somewhat formal entry (at least that is kind of how it looks from the pictures I've seen). I always love your pictures and ideas so much.

What a great blog! Can I ask what section you found the shelf in at Lowe's? I went today to look, but I couldn't find anything similar. I would like a curved shelf similar to yours.
