Stacks and Stacks

I've been lucky enough to find a lot of gently read, bargain priced copies of magazines lately. They are patiently waiting for that elusive time when the kids head back to school and I have a moment to myself. I'm looking forward to the chance to sit with piles around me and flip through them without guilt because there is nobody I need to be playing with, nothing else I need to be doing. I've heard rumors of such things happening. I hope to have that experience for myself very soon. For now, I will continue to collect them while Sweet Hubby shakes his head in that way that lets me know that he thinks I'm a little crazy, but that it is one of the many things he finds so charming about me.

If I were forced to choose a favorite magazine I would be torn between Country Home and M.E.'s Home Companion, however looking at the spines of these Country Home magazines I can't help but be drawn to how beautiful they look stacked up, and I think that might give them the advantage.

  2. Love those magazines too! And for those of us who wish we had more time to read them, at least we can enjoy how pretty they look sitting there!

I just found your blog and have been enjoying looking around! I love ME magazine, too. My subscription ran out and I've been missing it! Thanks for sharing!

  3. I am so jealous. I love reading magazines but just can't spend the money on them and have never seen any used. Have fun reading yours- you deserve the break.

  4. Hi Jen',
Great finds! You will enjoy your future quiet time with all that great reading and dreaming...I'm embarrassed to admit I likely have each and every one of those magazines. I have a magazine problem and buy all of those that appeal to me. My favourites are also Country Home, M.E.'s magazine (I've suddenly drawn a blank on the real name) and also Canadian Home and Country (a real gem for those of us who love vintage, farmhouse style). My biggest problem is that I can't seem to get rid of any. You think your husband shakes his head...

  6. the overflowing magazines looks a bit like my coffee table. and the shelf under the coffee table. and the basket next to my comfy-chair. I love the first week of the month because that's when I get Martha, Mary, Cottage Living & Country Living. I may have a magazine addiction. And Victoria come October!

  8. I agree, I love my ME magazines, but since they only come out every two months... it takes a lot of waiting! I get all my Country Home magazines from a flea market booth for $1 a piece... and now I think I'll have to get a subscription. I'm hooked.

  9. Oh no! There are actually some that I missed? I get Country Living, but not those. This is bad, very bad - you know I have a "problem" with magazines...

  13. I hear you Jen! And you will so enjoy that little bit of time to yourself to read your magazines in peace! Right now, Mary Engelbreit's magazine is my favorite, although I love quite a few others too. And thank goodness for blogs - amazing talent and photos for us to take in EVERY DAY. Life is good!

  17. Jen,
What a pretty stack of magazines. I used to get Country Home until it became too full of advertisements. It drove me crazy that they would have a huge add on one page then tiny pictures of the cute rooms and homes on a sliver of the opposite page. From the comments here I plan to revisit my once favorite magazine, maybe things have changed.
You can tell I'm getting old when advertising is all it takes to drive me crazy ;)
Enjoy reading all your treasures when you get some much deserved, I'm sure, free time.

  20. What a treat! I love the same magazines and keep a lot of the older ones because I like to go back through them.

Depending on what room I'm focused on at the time, the mag can look completely NEW after a few months.

Add Country Living and Romantic Homes to my list of favorites.

    Kimberly :)

  21. Its so wonderful to have an afternoon alone on the porch with refreshment and a stack of lovely magazines. Hope you enjoy them!

  22. I agree with you. Country Home is my favorite. The other day I looked through a current Mary Engelbreit mag and thought it was mainly ad's and craft projects rather than inspiring decorating photo's. I used to subscribe a few years ago but let it go. I am excited about the new Victoria magazine coming out again. That used to be my favorite by far.

  26. Good Morning, I love stacks of unread magazines. Oh, the possibilities... It looks like you have the October 2006 issue of CH in that pile. My apple pie recipe is in that one!!! I was a minor celebrity, "pie famous", for a bit after that one. I can just smell a fall apple pie now. Enjoy! Vicki at Hollyhocks.typepad.com
