The Week in Review

It's been a busy week here at the Cottage Nest. We celebrated our 8th anniversary Wednesday. Eight years since Maddie and I married Sweet Hubby. How is that possible? I look at this picture and I thought I was so in love but the truth is that I had just scratched the surface of what real love is. We have been through so much since that day and each challenge has brought us closer together. I can't even explain to you how deeply I love this man. We managed to sneak away for a nice dinner between all of the weeks lacrosse events but the real celebration happens today. I have no idea what that celebration is because we take turns planning them and surprising each other & this is the big guy's year. Be afraid.
That #10 in the picture is Maddie. Lacrosse has been a lifesaver for her this year. For all of us really. We've been really proud of her and glad she had something to focus on that makes her feel so good. It's also been very hard on the family. Sweet Hubby played in High School and College and helps coach her team but the schedule has been brutal and it is wearing the whole family down. I'm looking forward to it being over but Maddie still has a lacrosse camp at Northwestern to look forward to this summer. I would have loved to have gone away like that when I was a teenager. I hope she knows how lucky she is to have so many opportunities in life.

On Sunday we're going to buy this. It won't get put together for another couple of weeks when our wonderful, generous, considerate, giving, handsome and did I mention generous? friend Chris comes into town to help Sweet Hubby build it. I hope that was a sufficient amount of sucking up just in case he's reading. I'm astonished at what guys will agree to do for beer and pizza. Although, with 2 engineers working on this thing, I may be the one that needs the beer. I wish we had gotten a playset years ago because, even with a park across the street, Miss Emma has been just desperate to have one of her own. I'm not sure which of us is more excited. I know it looks like just a playset to you, but with Em's imagination it will be so much more. Let the adventures begin.

Hope your weekend is filled with love and happy memories.

  5. Oh, Happy Anniversary! I know exactly what you mean about "love", it is amazing how it changes over time!
Our playset is THE BEST MONEY we EVER spent...it is small, swings, slide, trapeze, and seesaw...the girls have LOVED it ever since the day it arrived over five years ago!
