At the Movies- Julie and Julia

On Friday I had the pleasure of going to see Julie and Julia with a friend. Over the summer I read both of the books that inspired the movie and you know sometimes that makes the experience less enjoyable. That is not the case with this movie.

I especially enjoyed Meryl Streep as Julia Child. She was pure genius. And now I'm going to say something I thought I'd never say out loud. That Stanley Tucci is kinda sexy. There. I said it.

I must tell you that this movie should come with a warning. There were moments when my stomach growled so loudly, I could scarcely hear the dialogue.

The movie was beautiful to watch, particularly the scenes in France. I love a beautiful movie, don't you? If this one doesn't make you want to hop on AirFrance, I don't know what will. So go see it if you have time, but make sure you eat a good meal first.

  3. I am so excited to go see this - now that we're moved, at least to the extent that all our belongings are at one address, we're planning to go see it this weekend.

A date, a real date, to go see a chick flick. I must be dreaming!

  12. DYING to see it! Cory and I had big plans to go this weekend (he's a sucker for cooking shows, so it seemed like a good fit). Anyway, we didn't make it out, after all. Don't ask.

Did I mention that I'm a bit crabby and complainey today???

  17. Just saw this tonight and really enjoyed it as well. I love that there were no 'perfect' people in this movie....women taller/bigger than their spouses, girls without their sisters hanging out of some skanky top...etc. Because it was based on real people and their lives, it really touched a chord in me.

I have both books and lately I've been obsessed with all things Julia. I just picked up one of her later cookbooks while thrifting last week...so pleased with that!
Hmmm, maybe I'll go to the matinee this afternoon.
