Worth the Wait

I have been searching high and low for this insulated bag ever since Cammy bought hers and shared it with me at the lake. I finally found one and I hope I'll be feeling up to a picnic with my family this weekend so I can take it for a test drive.

I have to tell you that it was a bit of a budget buster, but here's something I have realized about myself lately, I love beautiful things. They bring me such happiness. I would rather have 1 beautiful thing than 10 things that are just okay. I've started to be more discriminating and selective and I have to tell you that I apply this philosophy to all parts of my life...clothing, housewares and even friendships. I would rather be surrounded by people and things I love than to spend my money and time on those that just don't make me happy.

I hope your weekend is filled with beautiful things.

  1. Very pretty!! And yes, I agree... it's worth spending the money and a little more time searching so that even the most utilitarian things make you happy. Hope you have lots of happy picnics with your beautiful new bag!

  4. I love the sentiment of your post today! Why waste money, time and/or energy on things which don't add to our happiness? It is not selfishness, it is just good self-care!! Wishing you many more moments and things of beauty...

  5. Love the bag.
I like to surround myself with beautiful things too! Sometimes it is so worth the cost to know that it will bring a smile each time you use it. :))

  6. I agree 100% with your philosophy. If it brings you joy every time you look at it, than it was more than worth it! Very cute btw.

  11. I agree 100%! For me, that philosophy also applies to food.

Lovely cooler, I'm sure it will last you many a happy year! Joules is a great brand. My daughter has a couple of Joules polos for training. They wear like iron.

  12. I agree...and tend to follow your philosophy...I say tend, cause I brought home this sad chair in need of love. But it spoke to me...only my house didn't speak to it! No room at the inn!

  13. I, too, prescribe to that philosphy. We as a people, waste so much precious time, money and energy on the unimportant stuff in life. Welcome aboard. I love your blog, your ideas and esp. your decorating style.

  14. What a wonderful way to live!! I'm the same way. Since I hit my 40's I'm much for discriminating with regard to what I purchase and who I consider my closest friends. With age comes wisdom. : ) And that cooler is gorgeous, by the way!!!

  21. Oh, that is such a pretty insulated bag! I love it! And I completely agree with what you said. I have been applying that philosophy to our house lately. I would rather save for one beautiful splurge, and instead not buy all the little knick-knacks I don't really need! Sometimes less is better, and I keep our budget better this way! :)

I hope you have a great week, and that you really enjoyed your family picnic! :)
