The Gift of Friendship

The older I get the more I value my girlfriends. I really appreciate these women in my life, each one unique and special. These women that I am lucky enough to count as friends have many unique talents, there are great cooks, mothers, listeners, photographers, decorators, bargain hunters and artists. They all have some things in common. They are all giving, kind, generous, supportive and real. Those are things I require for a lasting friendship.

My friend Melissa is one such girl. The kind you can call up and ask to make your daughter a tote bag for her birthday. A Village inspired tote bag that gets carried most every weekend. The kind who will force you to dig down deep and force your buried creativity to the surface once again. The kind that knows you need it whether you know it or not.

Melissa and I are embarking on a new adventure together since our last one was such fun. We are doing an embroidery swap/collaboration which she kicked off with this gorgeous bit of needlework. At the end of our year long project we will have a large piece of fabric that can be turned into a pillow that I am sure I will always cherish. Just as I cherish our friendship.

I hope you all have made time for friends like this in your life. You'll be a better person for it.

And I couldn't agree more with that you said about the value of girlfriends...that's been the beauty of blogging for me, finding so many wonderful, like-minded women just a click away.

I was blog hopping this afternoon, and found myself at your beautiful blog. How nice to meet you!
