Pride and Prejudice

Our school year is officially over. It was a big one for us. An emotional year end for me. Maddie is leaving high school behind and Emma is leaving elementary school behind. I know I am completely biased but I think these two girls are amazing.

Allow a proud Mommy to brag for a moment?

Our Maddie had a tough time for much of high school. Our biggest struggle with her was getting her to take school seriously. Just when we were losing hope, the light bulb finally went off for her and after a less than stellar high school career she finished strong. She proved to everyone, especially herself, that she can do anything she puts her mind to. She might as well have been the Valedictorian we were so proud.

As for Emma, she was awarded the gold Presidential Excellence Award this year which was a pretty big deal around here. We are so proud of how hard she works in school and how seriously she takes it. That girl loves to learn and I hope that stays with her always.

Aside from all of this, the thing I am most proud of is our family. We are there for each other NO MATTER WHAT. I also love how close my girls are. There are almost 8 years between them but you would never know it. They are best friends and I'm pretty sure that is one of my biggest accomplishments.

  1. Aww-congrats to both your girls! We'll be right where you are next year.

My son & the twins are almost 8 years apart as well & they all get along so well (most of the time)! My sister & I are also 8 years apart & we are best friends! Its the perfect age difference to me!

  9. We homeschooled our son (our daughter is much older and went through the public schools).

I would get so frustrated with him in high school, he just was not interested it seemed.

Then all of a sudden he was actually studying and when we put him in the community college for his senior year of high school (to give him the science and advanced math he needed for college), he made straight A's!

He went on to be on the Dean's list each semester but one in college. I think some kids are just late bloomers and one day their ability to learn kicks in (or is it desire?).

    Congratulations to both your daughters.

  18. Way to go Maddie!!!! She must be very proud of herself. Way to Go Emma!!! That is a BIG deal receiving the award. Good job girls! Sisterhood is an amazing thing. My two girls can fight like cats and dogs one moment and then hug on each other the next. Someday they will be the best of friends like my sister and I are...I hope. :)

  20. Congrats on crossing that milestone... I know you are so proud of both girls!

You should know that at the end of Will's freshman year in college, he said, "I know now that I should have tried harder in highschool"...to which I hit my head against the wall.

Ah, parenting. We make it up as we go. And those kids? It turns out they are their own person. ha.
