Follow Your Heart
Well, I did it and I love it! The color is Sherwin Williams Aqueduct. I love this color. I want to do the backstroke in it, pour it into a colorful mug, top it with marshmallows and drink it, wrap it up and tuck it under my pillow at night. I would marry this color if I could. I'm ready to commit. Yep it's serious. A little over the top, right? But I am just that into it. I keep forgetting about it and then I walk in to the room and catch sight of it and it just makes me smile. Does your house make you smile? If not you should work on that. Live your life for you! I get that this door might not be for everyone but it is for me and a smile inducing door can only make life better I think.
Here is a wider view of the room so you can see how the door works overall. And there is Millie pouting on her pillow because I'm too busy to throw her ball for her.
As with any project I do, this one seems to be having a snowball effect. I will soon be attempting a slipcover for that ottoman and I'm searching for an antique dresser to fit where that entry table is. Outside that window is the covered front porch where I will be spending a good portion of the next few days painting. My hope is to have all of the house painting done by Thanksgiving. Be gone hunter green paint! Be gone mustard gold paint! Be gone molding the color of manila folders!
I seem to be in major nesting mode lately. Is it just me? Do you think it's the weather? I will try to stop long enough to share my progress. Hoping your weekend is as happy as an aqua door!

Aaak! I love it! So great to bring in the fresh aqua and it works perfectly with your room.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that color! I almost went with that color when I recently painted my walls and front door purple.Have a great weekend and keep making yourself smile! It's addictive....:)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! But if you really want to be happy, go throw the ball a few times!! Good luck with all your painting. I've got the itch to redo my kitchen. It does not make me happy right now, but some new paint and curtains might just do the trick.
ReplyDeleteOh I love it! I think I'll ask Nick to pull some strings at Sherwin Williams and have them rename that color "zen jen blue." It's just so perfect and so you, sweets! Great job!
ReplyDeleteLooks fabulous!! Your happiness is contagious! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeletePaula
That really IS a GREAT color! Makes me want to go out and buy the paint and paint my door as well haha! My husband would probably shoot me if I painted our door - perhaps I could paint it when he's away for business. Think he'd notice it when he got home?;)
ReplyDeleteWhoo hoooo! Super Fab. 10 pts!

ReplyDeleteIn our last house I had the back wall of my craft room/studio/office painted a vibrant berry color and, yes, it made me smile and gave me a bit of a creative jolt each time I walked into the room.
It's perfect! Funny how such a little change can bring such a lift. Have a wonderful weekend going in and out of your beautiful door :-)
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love it! So wonderful, I may have to find something to paint just so I can use that color.
ReplyDeleteI love it, too, and love how it pops gently and happily in the room.

ReplyDeleteLove it! Everybody should have something that they see everyday in their favorite color ... just brings cheer.
ReplyDeleteJen, it turned out beautiful! I love how you are loving it! Outside your window, do I see a blue ceiling in your porch?
ReplyDeleteJulie

ReplyDeleteoh, i love the door! it makes me happy too!
ReplyDeleteJen,
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I see so many things that I like...the door, the (matching) bag...the umbrella basket. No...my house doesn't make me smile. It is a MESS! And my son and his girlfriend are coming for Thanksgiving! YIKES!

ReplyDeleteI'd say it's a huge success!! I love that colour! If you are ever in want of a le creuset pot, you should check out their carribbean colour!
ReplyDeleteI love to live outside the box on color! I had a lovely coffee brown living room at one point and it was beautiful! I agree...if you don't smile at your rooms...do something! Paint!! Super color! Love it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, it feels so refreshing!

ReplyDeleteYour door turned out wonderful. I love the whole look of the room actually. And I quite enjoyed your detailed description of your feelings on the color you used. It really made my day.:)
ReplyDeleteThat door is gorgeous! I love, love, love the pop of color it brings to the room. I love it when I have weekends (or weeks) with lots of "nesting" involved. I love to get a lot done!
ReplyDelete~Shanon
Perfect blue. LOVE it!

ReplyDeleteLove the color...has happiness written all over it!
ReplyDeleteLove your aqua door. Can definitely see why it makes you happy - it's a "happy" color! Really brightens up the room.
ReplyDeleteLooks absolutely gorgeous. I really love that colour. The door of our new house is horrible varnished dark wood. Looks miserable from the outside and makes our hall feel quite dark. I am longing to paint it something lighter and brighter. You've really inspired me today with that beautiful blue. Fiona
ReplyDeleteAh...a woman after mine own cottage heart! Perfectly wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Coralie
I love it too!
ReplyDeleteI am in the middle of painting the outside of my front door a shade of turquoise. It is bright and I am wondering if I should tone it down with some stain. Going to change the inside color too now!
LOVE. THE. DOOR.
ReplyDeletethank you for intuitively sharing the paint color on the very first line.
what to paint ...
fall brings out the nesting, for sure. flannel sheets are making their debut!

I lOVE the teacup on your header. It makes me happy just to look at it! Would you be willing to share the pattern and company?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
I LOVE it!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that door! It's so you Jen - so you - and just so perfect!
ReplyDeleteLOVE it :)
ReplyDeleteI chose Sherwin Williams to match a color from Rust-Oleum for our kitchen cabinets - Seaside. Not blue like your fabulous door picture, but a mix of green/blue.
ReplyDeleteHope you can take the time to visit my blog- just posted about the beginning of the kitchen re-do.
Love it, JJ! And I just may snatch that blue bag right off it's hook.
ReplyDeleteLove the way you're feathering your nest, little missy!
p.s. Have I told you that I frequently dream of your paisley top? The one Mads wore in her pics? I've even searched for it online a few times.
I know.
It's perfect!
ReplyDeleteHi Jen...it looks marvelous! I myself am quite a fan of a little aqua now and then. What's the name of the colour on your walls?I'm looking for a nice "white" to paint my master bath.
ReplyDeleteHi! Just dropped by to say I am 100% in love with your entry. The door is definitely 75% of that, but the hardwood floors and gorgeous wall color (which I would looove the name of) and the cute sleepy puppy make me want to send it flowers. Probably lilies. Anyway, great job!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog via Pinterest and I had to say "hello" when I saw we used the same exact color for the inside of our front door! I looove it in your home! I'll bet it gets as many compliment
ReplyDeleteoh my!!!! i absolutely love it too! : )
ReplyDeleteSeriously I have never seen an aqua door and after I've seen yours I don't know why everyone doesn't have an aqua door! It is big time beautiful Jen!!!
ReplyDeleteOh oh oh! I just LOVE the door! I have been really wanting to paint our interior doors a color, but it needs to be light because the hallway is so dark that anything dark or drab would be a big bummer most of the year. Something super cheery and happy like this could be my ticket! You are a genius!!!
ReplyDelete~Angela~
I love your door! I was searching for a picture to show my husband and found your blog. Its beautiful and now I know I must do it. Thank you, thank you!
