On a Happier Note

Here is the stocking I made for Melissa for our annual exchange last weekend.

I lined it with one of my favorite fabrics and added some pom poms because really, can you ever have enough pom poms in your life?

For the most part, I am a self taught seamstress and this was my first attempt at lining something and also at applique. I love applique! I can't wait to do more. I have a habit of jumping in to things that are over my head. It's how I learn. It also seems it's becoming a way of life.

This is some of what the stocking was stuffed with.

There is a lot of... one for you, one for me... going on when I shop for stuffers.

Here is the gorgeous stocking Melissa made for me. Melissa is a whiz on the sewing machine and I am always a little intimated sewing something for her. I love that appliqued candy cane with glittery seed beads and there is something about raw edged ruffly fabric things that make me swoon right now.

Here's some of what was in my stocking. She spoils me. I allow it.

This is our 3rd year to do this and I think I officially have a collection of stockings now. I'm already planning next years.

  9. We share embellishment shopping techniques. One for you...one for me! lol The stockings turned out gorgeous. I am having a love affair with white torn muslin right now. Did you know you can dye it with kool-aid? I just finished dying some cotton lace and muslin with tropical punch and it turned out the most beautiful pink. I think limeaide and blueberry blast are next on my list. Have a great and creative day. btw...your package is on the way. Patty

  12. I love the stocking you made! I can't sew at all...I'm lucky if I can even thread a needle. So I greatly admire anyone else's handiwork. Love the things that were in both your stockings - great tradition.
