This morning I could hardly sleep, not wanting to miss a moment of the blissful sound of stormy weather. Now, on this rainy morning:
I am getting the studio ready for weekend company. It's always a little difficult to give up this space for a few days. Especially when I'm in the middle of a project.
I am taking this dirty puppers to get groomed. I'm pretty sure I spend more money on her hair than I do my own. Look at that face. She knows something is coming.
I am doing some mending. Do people still mend or do they just throw away and buy new? We seem to be especially hard on our linens lately.
I am ordering this book which we are reading for book club this month. Name this quote "I get lost in the language; words like thither... mischance... I'm always in agony over whether Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are really going to get together."
What are you doing this morning?
I am getting ready to go get my haircut, pick up my grandsons and go to our lake cottage, try out a paint color on the paneling in the cottage, and celebrate my birthday which is today! 59-the last of my fifties. Life is good.
ReplyDeleteYou've got mail baby!
ReplyDeleteThe quote is from You've Got Mail. It's my favorite movie. Your craft room is wonderful and I can see why you wouldn't want to disrupt you latest projects for company. We wont get rain until November. I'm looking foreward to it.

ReplyDeleteI am spending the morning reading some "how to" books for my next venture....
ReplyDeleteYou've Got Mail....Love that movie! We are getting some rain too. Love that!
ReplyDelete(raises hand) I still mend most things! Those shabby chic sheet sets and duvets are particularly prone to tearing around here too it seems.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for that rain from your Village to drop down into Southern Indiana. We are so partched down here. Sounds of a storm would be sweet music. Enjoy your weekend company, Jen.
ReplyDeleteWe could use some of that rain down here in Texas! Ballet classes for your daughter is such a wonderful thing. I'm sure you will both enjoy going to them. I did as a child, and then it gave me such a thrill a few years ago, when my daughter took classes. Have fun!

Yes, I still do mending. And I used to get lost in the language of Pride & Prejudice until I saw the BBC production starring (yummy) Colin Firth; now I can read the book and understand every word he's saying to me .... OH! I mean Elizabeth Bennett!
ReplyDeleteThe sound of rain this morning was wonderful. I think most people don't know what mending is. I've always been in favor of it myself. I had a Great Aunt who patched her patches, a mender indeed. I love that line for You've Got Mail but I think my favorite line is, Patrica makes coffee nervous. Oh how we will miss Nora Ephron.
ReplyDeleteOh my of Meg Ryan in You've GOT Mail
ReplyDeletewill have to watch this tonight something to look forward to! Your
home is darling.
You've Got Mail, I watch Meg atleast once a week while my girlies are napping! Love that movie ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm super jealous you are getting rain while it is supposed to be 107 degrees here in CA. I'm so ready for Fall and pumpkin everything a.s.a.p.!
I am procrastinating. Big time. I have a few things to do before I head off to my moms for some sewing time. How I wish I could hear a storm come through, we are still in the triple digits! Where is fall?
ReplyDeleteYou've Got Mail!!! My all-time favorite movie. Spending the morning at my son's taekwondo class & then grocery shopping & finally home to loads of laundry. Wishing for more rain here in north central Ohio. Enjoy your rainy day, I know I always do!

Sitting in my chair recuperating from ankle surgery. But my little pupsters are here on the quilt with me, so I'm in fine company.

I have probably watched You've Got Mail more times than any other movie I own.
ReplyDeleteNo rain here and expecting 100+ degrees. Orthodontist, attorney, work, farmers' market is how my day is stacking up.
I love your dog's face!
ReplyDeletedid you intentionally put "ballet shoes" next to the "you've got mail" quote, as a nod to meg getting all weepy about the noel streatfield books? or just a happy coincidence? ;o) so happy for you that you have a rainy morning! i can just imagine you all snuggled in an afghan, sitting on your daybed with a tea and book, listening to the rain ...
ReplyDeleteI mend, but most of my mending is for dog toys that get disemboweled! The good part is that no one cares if my stitches are messy.
ReplyDeleteYou've Got Mail! My favorite movie to watch in the fall. I was tempted yesterday to bust it out, but figured it was too early :)
ReplyDelete"I would like to buy you a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils."
I spent the morning getting my little boys hair cut. He looks even more cute now it's cut although I really do have to admit that he is a little boy now and no longer a baby! I still do mending. I have a number of pillow cases that need some attention at the moment.
ReplyDeleteYou've Got Mail!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites.
Ahh, the smell of rain. We have needed rain for quite sometime here. Hoping to get some soon
Pam
I do love the occasional rainy day.
ReplyDeleteWell, morning is past, but I did BodyPump, went to Barnes & Noble and treated myself to Paradise Bakery for lunch...
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are keeping very busy while you enjoy your rainshowers. Your work room is so nice and your doggy is adorable. Little pink ballet slippers have to be the sweetest thing.
ReplyDeleteI have been painting walls today. xx
I am at work wishing I could be on a porch listening to the sound of rain and drinking coffee :(
ReplyDeleteBut of course I'm finding time to check a few of my favorite blogs!
You've Got Mail is one of my all time favorite movies!
Your sewing space is lovely! I'd have a hard time giving that up too! Pride and Prejudice is my all time favorite!
ReplyDeletewell i am late on this post, but this morning it is raining here and i am loving it. 8:28 and i am still in my pj,s drinking a cup of coffee. today will be a loafing around the house day with some chores mixed in.
ReplyDeleteThe book cover of pride and prejudice is so nice. I also like your craft room.
