I love holidays, all of them really. I love to dream and plan & get inspired from pictures like these above ( bhg and country home). Then real life steps in and about all I manage to accomplish is this sad little display below. I did manage to make Valentines for my family. Barely. It seems I'm always running behind, chasing a holiday and not getting the things done that I want to. I'll do better next year. Or not.
Then as if dreaming about all the craft and decorating possibilities isn't enough, I start planning all the lovely special food I will make like these pictured below (from southern living, southern accents, sunset magazine).
The reality is going to be heart shaped pizza, angel food cake w/whipped cream and strawberries and heart shaped brownies. And really they are lucky to get that afterall, shouldn't I be going out for dinner tonight?
Yes, you should be going out!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos - yummy!
Happy Valentine's Day sweet Jen!
xo,
Kim
Yes, you SHOULD be going out! A hottie like you shouldn't be making homemade pizza on February 14, that's for sure. :)
ReplyDeleteYou've exceeded my own creative accomplishments for Valentine's Day by 200%. There's always somebody less creative than you (words to live by). Happy Valentine's!
I think your valentine display is lovely and your menu sounds great ... in the immortal words of John Lennon, all you need is love! I enjoy your blog. Happy Valentines Day.
ReplyDeleteHow cute are those banners?!
ReplyDeletehappy valentine's day!
ReplyDeleteLove the graphics. I think the cookies look yummy!
ReplyDeleteHave a great Valentine's Day!
I have been away covering a horse show and now am playing catch up on my favorite blogs! Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you have got the touch! Your V-Day display is gorgeous in its simplicity...I love it! Seriously...your family is very blessed to have such a thoughtful wife and mom--on holidays and every day! And how clever about the heart-shaped pizza!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day to you. I hope you have a wonderful day. I'm with you - always trying to catch the holiday. Maybe next year! ~Adrienne~
ReplyDeleteAwwww, that's sweet! That's what Valentine's Day is all about...loving those near and dear to your heart, whether you go out to eat or stay home for heart-shaped pizza.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are lucky!!
ReplyDeleteNo you don't want to go out tonight, too busy! Go out tomorrow instead!
Have a great one!

I love your 'simple' display. It's perfect. I too, looked at those BHG photos and thought how absolutely gorgeous they were. I think you food selection sounds fabulous, but I do think you should be going out! Happy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteI do the same thing! I look over beautiful photographs and recipes and want to replicate them in my own life. But then the realities of life catch up to me! I think your Valentine's display is beautiful, and I also think the menu you have sounds delicious. Not that you don't deserve to go out!
ReplyDeleteLove all the inspirational pics! Happy Valentine's Day!

I too have more ideas than I have time! But how boring life would be if we didn't dream about possibilties. :)
ReplyDeleteWe went out for dinner last night. No line ups!
We hardly ever go on ON Valentine's Day, we don't like to be conformists! :-) Not to mention having the same problem you do, lack of time! You did impress me with your effort though! I am making a family favorite for dinner and we are all going to be all together. Not romantic, but special none the less!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Great Valentines display!! Love it all!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day!
ReplyDeleteWe celebrated a day early. I did steaks with portobello mushrooms, fresh green beans, and heart shaped potatoes.
We had blackberry pie for dessert. My husband's favorite.
Hugs,
Nan
Love the photos. FOr some reason, I actually "got it together" enough to decorate for Valentine's Day this year. However, tonight, I ended up being delayed at work and missed dinner with my family. I would take your simple but yummy Valentine's Day meal with my family over decorations any day!!
ReplyDeleteYes you should be going out! But heart shaped pizza is pretty fab. I had a fried egg and grits.
ReplyDeleteYum.
**It seems I'm always running behind, chasing a holiday and not getting the things done that I want to. I'll do better next year. Or not.**
ReplyDeletethat's me in a nutshell.
i hope your valentine's celebration was lovely. :o)
...for what it's worth, we stayed home, donned jammies and ate leftovers while snuggling on our big white couch. it was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteNever mind about not going out for Valentine's. Doesn't the word mean "vale" (a comfy enclosed place for settling in) -n- "tine" (the prongs of a fork for capturing your favorite tastes)? Hope you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and nice post.
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhhhh, cookies and chocolate! Poor sweet tooth me! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!

I love you Valentine display....just perfect!!
ReplyDeleteI think your shelf area looks beautiful - like it's right out of a magazine. I also really like all of the inspiration pictures too - very pretty and just the kind of things I love.

The big day is over (I made a banner...I'm so proud of myself!!) but I'm still drooling over your pictures.
ReplyDeleteRequest here...I want to see more of your house...the bits and pieces you do show look wonderful!
Oh, Jen, I could have written your post from my life! LOL Your decorations are beautiful in their simplicity. Your dinner sounded great. Ours was even simpler; but the love was there and that's what matters. Happy (belated) Valentine's Day!

Oh so true! Us creative mommies are always "chasing" after the next holiday. In my case...I look up and the holiday is...like...tomorrow....and I SO want to do all thing things "thunk up"! Then I say..."Well, next year...." Ha! Glad I'm not alone
