Good Fortune

I'm a lucky girl. I think I'm lucky because not only did I marry an amazing man, but I'm grateful for him everyday. Last week Sweet Hubby was out of town all week and surprised me by coming home a day early. This gave us the unusual treat of having a day together with nary a child in sight.

It was a perfect day. One of those days that is such a rare jewel that you hope you will be able to keep every detail tucked in your memory, taking it out occasionally to hold up to the light and bask in it's brilliance.

We treated ourselves to lunch at P.F. Chang's, our first meal there. A meal at a restaurant with waiters is a rare treat indeed these days. The food was great, but what I'll always remember is sitting and talking with this man I adore. Having him hold out my chair and help me with my coat. Having him look deep in my eyes while we talked about our life and dreams. Knowing that he loves me like no one else ever has. Opening our fortune cookies and finding fortunes that go together almost as well and he and I go together.

Afterward we went to Anthropologie to browse and my sweet man bought me a couple of presents. One of which he couldn't wait until my birthday or Christmas to give me, because he said, it was just a present he got because he loves me and knew I would love. It was a box of monogrammed letterpress stationary and the best part about it is that he said he didn't have any idea what I would do it with it, but he knew I'd figure something out. You see, it never occurred to him that I would use it for it's intended purpose like a normal person. He knows me better than that. He gets me. Good fortune indeed.

  16. Oh Jen, what a GREAT afternoon! I love reading about you and your sweet hubby. It's rare when my hubby and I are alone, but it's such a nice treat. I find that in the middle of the night when one of us wakes up to get a drink or potty (lol) we will have a full fledged conversation about anything that is on our minds. So nice to have that little time. Even if it is at 2 am, LOL!
Enjoy your birthday!!!! I hope you have a wonderful one! And I can't wait to follow you on this journey :)
