I am a magazine addict. I used to subscribe to many. Then I would buy even more from the newsstand. I needed a 12 step program.
Magazines have even been life changing for me. For instance, I knew I was making the right decision by marrying my guy when we were dating and he encouraged me to buy as many decorating magazines as I wanted and he picked up the tab. He has many wonderful qualities but I would say funding my addiction is top 5.
While there used to be an endless number of great magazines to choose from, not so much any more. I've also gotten much more particular about what I buy. They have to be chock full of inspiration. These three are current favorites. Apparently I live under a rock because I just discovered Uppercase and Anthology. They are so visually stimulating they make my eyes cross. I found them at Anthropologie, where most beautiful things go to live.
Mollie Makes is published in the UK and can be found at Barnes and Noble. As a bonus it usually comes with some sort of gift like these little craft kits. Free gift you say? Sold.
I recently won this book from one of my favorite blogs, Yvestown. It was so timely as I had just discovered the Grand Revival line of fabrics. Because, you know, I live under a rock. There are several projects in it that I want to do.
Also, I want to thank you for the Mary Margaret love. I appreciate that you guys get my freakiness. Last night Jim said to me, while opening my little laptop, you've got to stop image searching pictures of Mary Margaret. Like that's gonna happen. I also love that I have turned several of you on to a new show. I do hope you can find a way to watch from the beginning online. Then you can join the Mary Margaret fan club with me. I call president.
Good morning, Jen! I was the same way with magazines. I could not get enough...and then would buy more on top of getting my subscriptions. I think I am down to 4 subscriptions. I am much more picky about what I buy now, too. I think having all the eye candy on the internet has helped "cure" me. I do love the Somerset magazines though but don't go crazy buying them. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteMagazines = happiness. Though I lament the disappearance of so many good ones over the past few years! Makes me all the more grateful for wonderful blogs like yours!
ReplyDeleteLove the mag and love the sewing book! I read loads of interior/decorating/craft magazines. I have stacks of them at home :)
ReplyDeleteGood morning!
ReplyDeleteI haven`t bought a magazine in a while. Maybe I`ll treat myself today!

i love magazines too. all kinds. i was trying to decide if i was going to make a trip to barnes and noble today or not. i will have to look at molly makes next time i am there.
ReplyDeleteI totally get your magazine addiction AND your obsession with Gennifer Goodwin. I wanted to watch "Once Upon a Time" when it first started, but my husband wasn't going for it so...I may have to search it on Netflix or something. Looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteoh dear. these are all new to me. but now i have to find them :)
ReplyDeleteOh!! I really want to get my hands on an issue of Mollie Makes. The Somerset magazines are great but are a pretty penny. I really miss Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion. So much inspiration in those.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was alone in my magazine addiction. When my favorites went under (so, so many), I tried to find some new ones. Most are too modern for me, but I LOVE Uppercase. If I've got somewhere to go that I might have to wait for a minute or two, I've got to bring an Uppercase with me. My subscription is up and I need to renew. It's killer expensive, so I'll have to wait until next month. And the month after that, it will be time to subscribe to Anthology. And I've never heard of Molly Makes (?!). I'll have to check into that one.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading and creating!
Oh how sad it makes me that I live in Australia sometimes, all the amazing magazines you guys all get :(. Love the look of Mollie makes and will have to find out about getting a copy somehow. Enjoy your creative reading :).
ReplyDeleteI suffer from the same affliction. I rationalized a large subscription to many magazines because it was a fundraiser at my daughters' schools. Then I would still find the need to buy more magazines. Sometimes I buy MollyMakes digitally and sometimes the newsstand version just because of the cute gift. It is nice to see I am not alone :)
ReplyDeleteI too, am a "magazineaholic"! And whew, they can pile up for sure!!
